💡 WMT Smart Rule Checker – A Pre-Trade Risk Assistant for Traders
One feature I would really like to see on WMT is a Smart Rule Checker built directly into the trading dashboard. The main purpose would be to help traders understand their current risk and avoid accidentally violating trading rules.
Prop trading can be challenging because traders have to monitor several things at the same time, such as daily loss, maximum loss, open risk, trading restrictions, and other account-specific rules. Sometimes a trader may understand the rules but still make a mistake simply because they are focused on the market.
The Smart Rule Checker could provide a simple real-time overview showing the trader’s current status, for example:
🟢 Safe – No rule concerns
🟡 Warning – Getting close to a rule limit
🔴 Critical – High risk of violating a rule
Before opening a trade, the system could also estimate the potential risk based on the entry price, stop loss, lot size, and current account equity. If the planned trade could put the account too close to a risk limit, WMT could display a warning before the order is placed.
Another useful feature would be a “Why am I getting this warning?” button. Instead of simply showing an alert, the system could explain the specific rule involved and show the trader what they need to adjust.
For example:
«”Your current daily loss is 1.2%. This trade would increase your estimated daily risk to 1.8%. Consider reducing your position size.”»
The dashboard could also include a Rule Summary section showing the trader’s current daily loss, maximum loss distance, open risk, and other relevant limits in one place.
I think this would be especially useful for new traders because they wouldn’t need to constantly switch between different pages or manually calculate their remaining risk.
Most importantly, this feature would not change the trading rules themselves. It would simply make the existing rules easier to understand and follow.
From WMT’s perspective, I believe this could also reduce unnecessary account violations and support requests caused by misunderstandings. Traders would have clearer information before making decisions, while WMT could maintain the same risk-management framework.
A feature like this could make the WMT dashboard feel more like a trading assistant rather than just an account monitoring page.
In my opinion, the best prop firm experience is not only about having good trading conditions, but also about giving traders clear tools to understand and manage their risk.
- This is a feature I would personally find very useful and I think it could add real value to the WMT trading experience.

Let me discuss with the Risk team and I would like you to give a more detailed plan directly. Your suggestions are good, but things will move faster if you get more involved and give more details. Thank you, Herwin Tamran
